Lukas, these are the things I loved about you; the things I will always remember; which, I hope, in time, will help me deal with the pain and shock of your passing:
I loved...
...the way you always made me feel like I was being listened to, even when I was talking nonsense (which I'm sure was often).
...your intrepid nature. Not just evident in the exotic countries you visited, but in how well you coped with our rainy trek over the mountains of Snowdonia.
...how much affection you had for Izzi and White Cat and how quickly you became the third person Izzi was comfortable with after Lou and I.
...your gift for analysing the films and TV shows we watched together, which challenged me to try and say more than just "meh" or "that was watchable" once the credits started rolling.
...the way you and Sam got on; how you had such shared interests and could talk for hours about games, music, etc. I always enjoyed over-hearing these chats, even when I had little idea what it was you were discussing (being old and out of touch).
...how you became vegan for ethical reasons. I hope your example continues to inspire me to make positive changes of my own.
But, most of all, I loved your gentle and caring nature. I was proud to have you as a step-son and honoured to call you a good friend.
I will miss you so much. Love you, man. xx
